Rioja
From the Bosconia, or El Bosque vineyard, located just a kilometer from the winery. In this south-facing parcel, on clay and limestone soils, the vines are an average 40-plus years in age. “Bosconia” is typically made of a higher percentage of Tempranillo than “Tondonia,” around 80%, with the rest a blend of Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. It is aged in barrel for five years, a period that qualifies it to be categorized as a Gran Reserva, but López de Heredia refers to it as a Reserva. Much smaller in production than “Tondonia,” it is the hidden gem of López de Heredia.
